Devon Valley is approximately 10 minutes outside Stellenbosch. Many of the families here experience challenging circumstances, often unemployed or working long hours to provide for the basic needs of the family. Children are often left unattended after school and, with the recent pandemic forcing the closure of schools, children have missed out on a year of their foundation schooling and have had no access to books, stationery or computers. 

Froggies provides a safe place where they receive a cooked meal and educational and homework support. We also offer sport which the school doesn't provide. We are committed to partnering with each child from Grade R to Grade 7, developing their grounding for a succesfull future.   

We currently have 45 children who come to Froggies aftercare, after school from 1 to 5 pm. There are 6 paid facilitators who care for the children. Each year we intend to grow the school by an extra class.

Froggies Aftercare was started this year entirely from donations of toys, books and used stationery from our stellenbosch community. Messages for help were sent out and the response was heartwarming. We have managed to get a library going whereby the whole school can take out a book to read each week. We have managed to fix the jungle gym and get sand for the playpit. We have secured food donations for the children's daily meal. Froggies management is pro rata.

Nonetheless, our facilitator staff and the costs of basic essentials (such as toilet paper, photostatting and paint) still has to be paid from donations each month. Please help us to keep our doors open.

Any donations you make goes directly into keeping a child safe in the afternoons, access to extra mural activities, outings, parental support and reading programs.
